VR Game Design
We took reality and made it virtual, and learned a lot about people along the way
We had to make a VR application, and we decided to investigate the viability of a mechanic which could only really be achieved in VR.
Our system took place in two identical rooms, one which would be rendered in the player's right eye, and the other which would be rendered in the player's left eye, we then moved certain items out of sync with each other in either room to see how players would respond. Our findings overall were that most players did not notice. We experimented with colours, positions, and object behaviours, but ultimately we found that a large portion of people were not drawn to the inconsistencies. We also found out that if people don't use VR often, the first thing they tend to do is throw things around.
